Going Back to Galveston

Writer Jimmie Killingsworth and Geoff Winningham worked together to create Going Back to Galveston:  Nature, Funk & Fantasy in a Favorite Place.  Killingsworth’s wry, affectionate essay on his lifelong relationship with Galveston provides the framework for the book, into which Winningham’s color photographs are interwoven.  The imagery ranges from families on the crowded beaches and fishermen on the jetties to the air-conditioned seduction of the Rainforest Cafe, with an emphasis on the frequently ironic interplay of human and natural history.

Going Back to Galveston was the first of Winningham’s projects that he shot entirely with digital technology.  Archival pigment prints are available.
